ODISHA BIODIVERSITY BOARD
Odisha Biodiversity Board is a statutory body established in the year 2009 u/s Section 22 of the Biological Diversity Act 2002 under the administrative control of the Forest, Environment & Climate Change Department, Government of Odisha. The prime objective of the Board is to implement various provisions of the Biological Diversity Act 2002 and Rules 2004, Odisha Biological Diversity Rules 2012 and other relevant rules and guidelines framed at national and state level. The mandate of the Board is the conservation of biodiversity, sustanable use of its components and fair & equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the use of bioresources and associated tradtional knowledge. Government of Odisha constituted the Board vide Govt. Order No. 10F (TR)-61/2008-18823/F&E, dated 11.11.2009, reconstituted in 2012 vide Govt. Order No. OBB-19/2012-20674 dated: 07-11-2012, in 2015 vide notification no. 10F (TR) 42/2015/20859/F&E, Bhubaneswar, dated 26.11.15, in 2018 vide Notification no. Env-II-45/2018/25809/F&Edated 30.11.2018. The Board is recently re-constituted by the State Government vide Notification no. FE-ENV2-ENV-0009-2018-21337/FE&CC dated 6.12.21. The Board is headed by the Chairperson and other ten members from Government Departments and eminent persons academicians, researchers, civil society groups etc. . |
